About Walter

Big Attitude in a Little Package

What can we say about Walter? He is a nut. He came to us June 2023. He was meant to be an emotional support dog for our other resident Winston. They became best friends right away. Walter came to us at 7 months old, weighing only 10 pounds. He was the runt of his litter. The breeder that turned Walter and his sister over to the rescue did not think they would be good candidates for selling.

Walter's Story

Walter spent the first 7 months of his life up in Clarksville, Indiana. He came to us from another rescue. We were looking for the perfect housemate or Winston, who had horrible separation anxiety. It was quickly discovered that Walter was going to stay pint sized and that he had terrible stomach issues. Walter has problems with regurgitating his stomach contents into his nasal passages. He does completely block his air way at times. We will be getting a sedated x-ray this week to determine if he has a condition known as mega-esophagus. Walter is now a year old and only weighs in at 13.2 pounds which is ten pounds lighter than what his breed should weigh. Walter has a special feed bowl that keeps him from eating too fast. He is fed small meals to help with his condition. Watch the blog for more information about Walter's veterinary appointments.
